It's easy to learn how to add music to your Facebook Story. It's quite similar to how you add music to an Instagram story.

How to add Music to your Facebook Story

There are two ways you can add music to your Facebook story, you can either create a music post that only contains the music of your choice from the Facebook music library, its lyrics/cover art and stickers, or you can create a music story by using a picture or video from your phone's gallery and then adding a music sticker to the background.

How to add Music to your Facebook Story – Music-Only Story

Open the Facebook app on your iOS or Android phone and tap the Create a Story tab at the top left side of the newsfeed.

To create a story with just music, tap the Music icon at the top to open Facebook music library.

Next, you'll need to choose a piece of music that matches your current mood, there are so many categories to choose from, tap Browse at the left corner to browse through the categories, or simply use the search bar at the top to search for an artist or a music title.

When you're happy with your Music choice, simply tap the play icon to hear a preview of the Music. You'll see the Lyrics label next to the music title (this is how you'll know if the music you've selected will play with lyrics or just the cover art).

Tap anywhere on your selected music title to open up the Music sticker page, here you can choose whether to display your music story as lyrics or cover art. To display the lyrics, tap Aa.

You can also choose what segment of the music you'd like to share on your Facebook story, it can only be 30 seconds long. You can do this by dragging the sound wave-bar (Slider) at the bottom. The song usually starts in the middle of the chorus by default.

You can also change the colour of the Music lyrics by tapping the rainbow-coloured dot at the top of the page.

Next, tap Done at the top right corner. On this page, you can add more effects to your Facebook such as changing the background colour, typing a headline, tag people, add a sticker, and also set privacy.

When you're happy with the changes, tap Share to Story . Your Story will be shared on Facebook.

Why can't I add music to my Facebook story?

If you want to add music to your Facebook story and you are having issues, the first thing you need to note is that you can only add music to your Facebook story when logged into Facebook on a mobile app. If you have logged in using a desktop/laptop or you are using desktop view on a mobile phone you won't be able to add music to your Facebook story.

If you are logged in on a mobile app, try closing down the app and reopening it, or see if you need to update your current Facebook app version.

Where is the music sticker on Facebook?
